En hydraulisk ventillyftare är en anordning för att upprätthålla noll ventilspel i en förbränningsmotor. Enkelt uttryckt, en ventillyftare överför kamlobens rörelser till tryckstången eller vippan för att öppna och stänga ventilen. Konventionella solida ventillyftare kräver regelbunden justering för att upprätthålla ett litet spel mellan ventilen och dess vipp- eller kamföljare. I en förbränningsmotor är en ventillyftare den komponent som omvandlar rotationen av kamaxeln till vertikal rörelse som öppnar och stänger insugnings- eller avgasventilen.
